Job Overview

The Creative Animation Supervisor will be a highly creative leader focused on bringing fun, emotion, and character-driven storytelling to our animation projects. Working directly under the Creative Director, the Animation Director will elevate the animation team's output from technically driven to creatively inspired, ensuring that company's animated content engages young viewers and aligns with the given concepts and needs of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Creative Animation Leadership

    • Strong emphasis on creative storytelling, enhancing the emotional depth and fun factor in all animated content.

    • Collaborate closely with the Creative Director to translate story concepts into visually engaging, character-rich animations.

    • Develop a unique animation style that makes characters more expressive, fun, and relatable to children, setting a high creative standard.

  2. Team Development & Mentorship

    • Inspire and mentor animators to think creatively and experiment with their work, moving beyond technical execution.

    • Cultivate a culture of creativity and passion within the team, encouraging animators to take ownership of their work and add imaginative elements.

    • Provide guidance, feedback, and support, helping team members blend creativity with technical expertise to deliver top-quality animation.

  3. Project Direction & Vision

    • Set clear creative goals for animation projects, working with the Creative Director to establish the vision and deliverables.

    • Review animation drafts and be responsible for the animatic, offering feedback that emphasizes character expression, timing, and pacing, ensuring the creative intent is fully realized.

  4. Creative & Technical Collaboration

    • Work closely with the Creative Director and other creatives to maintain a cohesive vision across all stages of production.

    • Collaborate with animators to bridge the gap between creative ideas and technical execution, guiding them in creating visually dynamic, character-driven animations.

    • Leverage technical animation knowledge to support creative decision-making and ensure seamless integration of animation elements.

  5. Quality Control & Consistency

    • Ensure that all animation content aligns with company's creative standards, maintaining a high level of quality and fun for young viewers.

    • Ensure all content adheres to age-appropriate guidelines, maintaining safe and culturally sensitive storytelling throughout the animation process.

  6. Innovation & Improvement

    • Continuously explore new animation techniques, styles, and tools that can enhance storytelling, making company’s content more engaging and fun.

    • Drive innovation within the animation team, introducing creative approaches that can set the company apart in the children's entertainment space.

    • Foster a proactive approach to solving creative challenges, encouraging the team to take risks and try new ideas.

Skills:

  • Creative Vision: Demonstrated ability to lead animation teams in developing emotionally resonant, character-driven content.

  • Animation Skills: Proficient in industry-standard animation software and animation production techniques.

  • Communication: Excellent communication skills (Russian), capable of articulating creative direction clearly and effectively.

  • Professional competence in the field of 3D animation with proven work experience.

  • Deep knowledge and confident expertise in Maya at an expert level, including the optimization and setup of complex scenes and tools.

  • Advanced understanding and application of animation principles, especially when working with non-standard characters, which includes complex movement mechanics, hybrid rigs, and unique models and styles.

Passion for Children’s Content: Enthusiasm for creating engaging, age-appropriate content that resonates with young audiences.
