Haileybury Astana is seeking a passionate and dedicated Kazakh Language Teacher to join our dynamic team. We are looking for a professional who can inspire and engage students in learning the Kazakh language while incorporating innovative educational methods.

Type of contract: 1 year contract with mutual prolongation

Start date: January 2025

Main Responsibilities:

Curriculum

• Understand the relationship between the UK National Curriculum, CIE, PEARSON, IBO guidelines, and Haileybury Astana's Units of Work, lesson plans, and assessments.
• Stay updated with curriculum developments through reading and CPD opportunities.
• Plan lessons and resources that cater to students' learning needs and are aligned with the school’s expectations.
• Deliver curriculum content effectively, ensuring it challenges and engages students.
• Monitor ongoing formative assessment and prepare pupils for summative assessments (both internal and external).
• Maintain accurate, fair, and comprehensive records of assessments.
• Set high expectations for student learning, motivation, and presentation.
• Write reports on student performance as required.
• Explore, share, and implement innovative teaching methods.

Welfare and Discipline

• Monitor student progress, offering guidance and support, and maintain individual student records.
• Lead Personal Development (PD) sessions.
• Maintain high standards of behaviour, dress, and discipline in and outside the classroom.
• Foster a positive, focused learning atmosphere with clear expectations and strong student-teacher relationships.
• Ensure student safety and well-being, both on and off campus, in accordance with Haileybury Astana policies.

Co-Curricular Activities

• Supervise and coach pupils in the after school Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programme and the extra-curricular sports and performing arts programmes.

• Work with and support the relevant Olympiad teachers.

Safeguarding Health & Safety

• Everyone who works at Haileybury Astana has the responsibility for promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children.

• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact;

• Maintain good order and discipline among the pupils and safeguard their health and safety, both when they are on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorised school activities elsewhere;

• Be aware of school policy and procedures regarding Child Protection and Safeguarding, and attend relevant training as required.

• Report all causes for concern to the Designated Senior Lead;

• Provide thorough risk assessments as required prior to activities and trips.

Requirements

• Qualified graduate teacher.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area; a Master's degree is an advantage.
• Experience teaching EAL (English as an Additional Language) students.
• Experience delivering IGCSE and A Level courses.
• Previous experience in an international school and familiarity with the British education system.
• At least 3 years of experience teaching the subject.
• Proven ability to improve student attainment and contribute to the success of the school.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage change effectively and work under pressure in dynamic environments.
• Skills to contribute positively to student behaviour management.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of people.
