Thesis – “Lived Experiences of Parents Raising Children with Down syndrome: A Phenomenonlogical
Study ”
 Conducted a descriptive phenomenological study to explore the lived experiences of parents raising
children with Down syndrome in Kazakhstan, wit h a particular focus on their educational journey .
 Utilized semi -structured interviews with eight mothers of children with Down syndrome to uncover
challenges, areas for improvement, and practical implications for educational practices.
 Findings contri bute to a deeper understanding of the unique needs and experiences of families raising
children with Down syndrome in Kazakhstan, offering valuable insights for educational stakeholders
and policymakers.

 Conducting twice -weekly 2 -hour speech development therapies for a 4 -year -old child with Down
syndrome, resulting in significant advancements from non -verbal communication to active vocabulary
usage through a combination of words and signs .
 Leveraging American Sign Language as a pivotal tool to encourage communication and mitigate
challenging behaviors, fostering a conducive learning environment.
 Strategically designing tailore d lessons , including sensory play, role play, dramatic play, and memory
training activities, to enrich the child’s language, speech, and communication skills.
 Collaborating closely with child ’s family to conduct comprehensive assessments of the child’s needs and
craft i ndividualized tutoring plans.
