Job Summary:

The Technical Writer is responsible for creating clear, concise, and well-structured documents that Operations and Maintenance will use in operating and maintaining equipment. This includes creating Standard Operating procedures (SOPs), OEM technical guides, quality assurance and control documentation, documents for sharing root cause failure analysis, and establishing an OEM manual library. This role reports to the Reliability & Planning Superintendent and will work closely with the Planning & Scheduling Supervisor, Reliability & Con Mon Supervisor, Maintenance and Operations Heads of and with OEM’s to gather technical details and convert them into user-friendly documents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop SOPs from OEM manuals for key equipment for Operations to safely operate equipment within specified parameters.
• Develop SOPs from OEM manuals for key equipment for Maintenance to safely dissemble and assemble equipment to defined OEM standards.
• Develop best practice SOPs for precision maintenance for use by Maintenance (e.g.: laser alignment, dynamic balancing, fitment, installation, lubrication, v-belt installation, vibration).
• Develop quality assurance documentation for use by Maintenance integrated with work management and ToiR.
• Collaborate with the Reliability & Condition Monitor Supervisor, Planning & Scheduling Supervisor and end-users in designing the documentation so that it is easy to use in the field by Operators, Maintainers and service contractors.
• Organize OEM information logically for easy access by end-users.
• Ensure documentation is easy to follow, with a focus on clarity and usability.
• Develop a version control process to maintain, updаtеand manage changes to documents to ensure versions are controlled and up to date.
• Monitor the effectiveness of documentation and user feedback. Make recommendations for improvements based on user input and industry trends.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering or a related field, or the equivalent experience as a technical writer in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of technical concepts and ability to translate complex ideas into simple, understandable language.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with an eye for detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in writing standard operating procedures for maintenance and operators.
• Certification in technical writing.

Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity in all technical documentation.
• Ability to work efficiently, managing time and priorities to meet deadlines.
