Investment Analyst at Step Ahead Capital & other projects of Rost Shorgin

We're looking for a curious, analytical thinker who loves numbers and enjoys deep research. You’ll dive into everything from evaluating DeFi protocols and tuning algorithmic trading strategies to analyzing growth-stage startups and synthesizing investment insights.

You'll be collaborating closely with Rost Shorgin, an experienced entrepreneur, investor, and Stanford MBA alum. Rost previously built products at the intersection of machine learning and digital assets, worked in leading tech companies in California, and currently is a partner at Step Ahead Capital, a US-based VC firm focused on technology startups and digital assets.

What you'll be doing:

- Conduct structured data analysis in Google Sheets
- Back-test algorithmic trading strategies and assess results
- Visualize data clearly through charts and tables
- Accelerate workflows using AI tools (GPT-4, Claude, Cursor, etc.)
- Build concise and insightful investment memos
- Automate repetitive tasks using scripts, macros, or AI-driven code generation
- Collaborate directly on exploratory, high-impact projects

What we care about:

- Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills – clarity, precision, and structured thinking
- Comfort with AI-driven coding tools (e.g., Cursor) or basic Python – coding from scratch isn't required, while AI-driven coding tools are required
- Genuine curiosity about crypto, DeFi, algorithmic trading, or finance
- Independent mindset, proactive communication, and asking insightful questions
Bonus points if you have:
- Prior experience in finance
- Familiarity with DeFi protocols
- Experience with back-testing tools or trading bots

Compensation & commitment:

- Flexible: open to part-time or full-time arrangements
- Monthly compensation from $2,000 to $3,500 depending on experience, skills, scope, and commitment level (part-time / full-time)
